Linen imposes its natural look to sublimate, surprise, invent. And CELC accompanies its members in their inspirations : offering an enlightened dynamism for the luminous pursuit of abundant creativity.
Regularly, an international fashion personality, selected among the ‘fans’ of linen, will be invited as a guest editor for a CELC newsletter to offer his or her personal vision of linen, a fiber which can be developed creatively, technologically and naturally.
We lead off with Patrick Cabasset, ‘trend’ editor at l’Officiel magazine …

CELC: Linen on the runways ? Should this be obvious?
Patrick Cabasset : « Fashion, entirely turned towards the esthetic, often forgets that at the origin of an exceptional model, is an exceptional fabric. This is what guides creation and – if successful – answers consumers’ expectations.
Linen, like hemp, reminds us of the land. The millenary union between nature and man has always allowed linen to accompany us in our everyday lives. It is a reassuring value. Today, linen is once again the emblem of a new quest for truth, sincerity and harmony with nature. An element that is lacking in our urban lives. If the future is ‘nature’, linen will have top billing. »
CELC : What is your vision of linen ?
P.C. : « What is fascinating about linen is the diversity of looks it can take on. This rustic material can lend itself to both technological and futuristic developments. As of Summer 2009, ‘weighty’ fabrics, heavy linens and draped crepes are part of almost all the collections. Without mentioning the many wrinkles which make even the sexiest dresses elegant. The finest linen voiles, often coated, dress up fashion’s new odalisques. This trend will continue for Winter 2009/2010 in thicker hemps and material blends that will generate new, spectacular volumes. »
